Charlotte dreams of a career as a musician - but after graduation, she needs a job first, for her parents' sake. She lands at a Munich publishing house, in the publisher's office, close to the center of power. She quickly realizes that the publisher frequently changes his assistants. Despite this, a good relationship develops between them - her boss recognizes her strengths and trusts her. The price is high: she must endure a lot, fights without mercy, puts her health at risk - and risks losing Bo, whom she has just fallen in love with.
Caroline Wahl's new novel tells, in a laconic tone, with humor and depth, the story of a young woman who refuses to become a victim but finds herself in a situation many know: when work becomes hell. An everyday tale of suffering, resilience, and survival.
