Renitenz-Ensemble - Meinung Macht Mobil - Ein Stück (für) Stuttgart (mit Magdalena Ganter, Ismael Boerner und Angela Neis)
Renitenztheater, Stuttgart, Germany
27.5 €
An unconscious man, two sharp-tongued sisters and an evening where nothing is quite what it seems. This satirical play for Stuttgart plunges into a tangle of attitudes, half-truths and secrets - somewhere between a parking ban, a party manifesto and personal responsibility.
The big questions of our time are on trial: how much civic conviction fits inside a 30 km/h zone? Who gets to speak up - and who has it wrong? The production weaves personal perspectives together with questions of urban mobility, asking just how flexible we really are in our opinions.
Somewhere between sitcom pace and genuine depth, the show lands as a mix of crime parody and city portrait - sharp, witty and pleasantly uncomfortable. Stuttgart catches a glimpse of itself in the rear-view mirror of transport policy. The audience might too.
The German-Swiss duo Elisabeth Hart and Rhaban Straumann, satirists-in-residence at the Renitenztheater, wrote this layered piece as an outsider's observation - one that sometimes stings, but is also a love letter to the city.
In conversation with the Stuttgarter Zeitung, Elisabeth Hart summed up the heart of the play: "It's a crime story, and the focus is on finding the truth: what happened? Who is to blame? Who did what, or failed to act?"
Their view of Stuttgart shifted during on-site research. "Normally we just drive on through - this time we got to break open our own prejudices. That's a huge thing, not getting stuck in them," says Rhaban Straumann of the residency idea. Stuttgart isn't love at first sight, the duo admits, but it's a cool city. "Things are happening there."
