Tawayapu - Wawanakan thakipa (The Way of the Children)

"Tawayapu" is an artists' collective from El Alto, Bolivia, active since 2013. It works with children, teenagers and young adults in the fields of circus, music, dance and theatre, and is part of the Latin American movement Cultura Comunitaria Viva. The collective has taken part in tours, festivals, congresses and caravans at both national and international level.

The show follows children who set out on a musical journey to find the true meaning of joy. Along the way they interact with objects, puppets and games, recalling the happiest moments of their lives. The journey passes through different places where it becomes clear how society gradually forgets the importance of happiness - themes of social injustice, violations of children's rights and environmental destruction all come into play. In the end, the children manage to find the joy that lies hidden within every person.
