At the centre of Ein Stück Geschichte sits the so-called most powerful man in the world at his desk - standing in for all the countless powerful men on this planet. With his signature he seals decrees, executive orders, laws and treaties whose far-reaching consequences he couldn't care less about. In his world, men are loud and potent, women quiet and ready to serve, there are no allies - he always comes first.

In his world and ours, the military budget dwarfs the funds available for human rights, species protection and climate action. Love Trumps Hate? The debate fizzles out, the Bible as a guide is outdated, Voltaire as a corrective has run its course. The only glimmer of common sense in the panopticon of factual madness seems to be a police officer's views on the G20 summit in Hamburg. The year is 2017 - but time runs backwards, the dead come back to life, and the protagonists have to hold on tight to avoid landing in the wrong century.

The piece is both satire and documentary theatre. Author and director Antje Schupp transforms political events that washed up on her desk via virtual channels in 2017 into bitterly comic scenes - sharp, pointed, shot through with desperate humour.

Singing, acting and animating are students from the acting, puppet theatre and opera school programmes: Carolina Eicker, Josepha Flemming, Rebecca Herter, Elio Jäger, Mali Jafari, Daniel Johnson, Clara Lorenz, Johannes Frederik Pisall, Leontin Salihi, Jakob Saltner, Amelie Sarich, Til Schumeier, WenBo Shuai, Lilly Sorgenfrey, Mara Suter and Zina Strunz.

The performances on 23 October and 28 November will be offered with DGS interpretation (German Sign Language). After the performances on 23 October and 27 November, a WTspäti event will take place in the Studio of the Wilhelma Theater.
