Born in 1980 in Leipzig to a Tanzanian agriculture student and a German mathematics student, Tupoka Ogette recounts in her memoir Trotzdem Zuhause a life lived between East and West, loss and new beginnings, exclusion and connection. She describes herself as a "bridge person" - someone who stands between different worlds, experiences, and perspectives, and from that vantage point speaks about belonging, identity, and the power to build connections where others draw dividing lines.
