What do songs reveal about love, homeland, and identity? South African tenor Simphiwe Mfazwe and pianist Jonathan Hanke create a musical bridge from German Romanticism to contemporary South Africa. Excerpts from Robert Schumann's "Dichterliebe" and songs by Richard Strauss meet contemporary South African compositions exploring joy, sorrow, hope, and life in the 21st century.
