This one-man show tells the story of Swiss-Italian painter Antonio Ligabue (1899-1965), who spent much of his life misunderstood, marginalized, and ridiculed. Rather than being broken by his fate, Ligabue built his own universe of paintings and sculptures - works of extraordinary power and depth that earned him the reputation of a local van Gogh in both Switzerland and Italy.
Swiss actor Marco Michel approaches this biography in a striking way: large-format charcoal drawings of people and landscapes take shape before the audience's eyes, and Michel enters into dialogue with them. Just as Ligabue could only reach the outside world through his art, Michel continually conjures a new counterpart for himself on stage.
In 2018, the United Solo Festival in New York - the world's largest festival for one-person shows - named him "Best International One-Man-Show".
