Description was written before the event

Máximo Francisco Repilado Muños, better known as Compay Segundo, was the world-famous musician of the Buena Vista Social Club and composer of "Chan Chan". He was still performing on major stages around the world at the age of 94.

For nearly 20 years, his grandsons Ernesto, Leonardo and Alejandro Repilado have been honouring their grandfather through music. From Compay they learned to play traditional Son authentically - and he personally entrusted Ecos De Siboney with carrying on as his official successors. This is documented on a CD track of the release "Saludo Compay".

The group rose to prominence quickly: in Cuba they received the "Premio Lucas" twice and were nominated for the "Premio Cubadisco" (the Cuban Grammy) in the "Musica tradicional" category. Their video "Me dirás que sabroso" was also recognised in that category. Alongside Compay Segundo's compositions, they perform their own pieces such as "Tengo un Son", which are played worldwide.

The live set includes "Chan Chan", "Las Flores de la Vida", "El Camisón de Pepa", "Orgullecida", "Macusa" and "La Guantanamera", complemented by the group's own repertoire.

The show takes place as an open-air event at the amphitheatre; in case of rain it will move indoors. Doors open at 18:00. Food and drinks are available before the show.

Tickets are available at the usual advance-sale outlets and online at www.reservix.de and www.rantastic.com. Info line: 07221 39 80 11 (no ticket sales).
