Alleinruhelage - Eva Menasse
Literaturhaus Stuttgart, Germany
14 €
Reading and conversation with Eva Menasse, moderated by Miryam Schellbach.
The focus is on her new novel: what remains is a weekend house. There the protagonist once sought idyll with her family and now, after the end of her marriage, wants to make a fresh start. Renovations, burst water pipes, and the malice of fellow allotment gardeners awaken memories and new insights - yet in the end she decides to sell the beloved house and break free once more from her stable solitude. With this work, Menasse has written a novel about taking stock of one's life at a crossroads.
Eva Menasse was born in Vienna and has lived in Berlin for over 25 years. Her novel "Dunkelblum" has been translated into many languages. In 2025 she was awarded the Honorary Prize of the Austrian Book Trade for Tolerance in Thought and Action.
