Sensual, melancholic, raw, traditional and alive to this day. Tracing the footsteps of Astor Piazzolla, the Freiburger Akkordeon Orchester under ZMF prize-winner Volker Rausenberger sets off on a journey through Buenos Aires, Paris and New York.

Joined by the remarkable singer Josefina Aymonino from La Plata, Argentina - who worked with none other than Amelita Baltar, Piazzolla's long-time companion - the FAO presents a programme weaving together Tango Nuevo, traditional tango and classical music along the arc of Piazzolla's life. From his early years in Buenos Aires through his classical studies in Paris and their lasting influence, to his later years in New York - an engaging Sunday morning matinee.
