The Summer of Gratitude

Before moving on to answer further questions, Fritz Eckenga wants to thank his audience first - the people who made this great success possible in the first place. Without so many loyal souls who have left their homes year after year to sit in a large tent and listen to something they cannot even choose themselves, his summer special programmes for the Ruhrhochdeutsch Festival would never have become what they undoubtedly are today: an institution with a firm place in the heart of this city, comparable perhaps only to other institutions. Like the main railway station or some stand where you can still buy canned goulash at eleven in the evening.

His second thanks go from the bottom of his heart to the many helpers without whom his dedicated struggle for a more beautiful Dortmund would never have succeeded. To Saskia, Britta and Roman, to name just three of four.

And only his third thanks, in simple humility, go to himself. And like this: "Thank you, Fritz - please keep it up!" He doesn't need to be asked twice. He has always listened to himself best.
