"Arm aber sexy": Klaus Wowereit and Stefan Wolle in conversation about Berlin from 1990 to today
On the day the Wall fell, two worlds collided in Berlin that could hardly have been more different: the capital of socialist East Germany and West Berlin, the symbol of the free world. "Berlin is poor but sexy" - with this phrase, Governing Mayor Klaus Wowereit captured the upheaval that followed the fall of the Wall. Alongside political and economic reunification came an explosion of cultural activity and creative energy - while at the same time housing shortages and unemployment grew. Berlin became a laboratory of reunification, with all its contradictions.
Author Stefan Wolle speaks with Klaus Wowereit about Berlin's development since 1989, moderated by publisher Dirk Palm.
