1. Meisterkonzert - Symphony Concert with Nareh Arghamanyan

The first meisterkonzert of the KARLSRUHE KONZERTE 26/27 season features the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra - making their debut at Karlsruhe Konzerte - under the baton of Irish conductor Killian Farrell, currently general music director at Staatstheater Meiningen and moving to the same position at Staatstheater Nürnberg from the 27/28 season.

The programme opens with two works that wrap the spirit of the machine age in dance music: Eduard Strauss' "Bahn frei!" op. 45 and Johann Strauss' "Accelerationen Walzer" op. 234 transform the sonic landscape of railways and technology in the style of the Strauss dynasty. Between them sounds "Orawa" for string orchestra by Wojciech Kilar - the Polish composer whose film score for "The Pianist" won the French César award. The centrepiece of the evening is Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 17 in G Major KV 453, performed by Armenian pianist Nareh Arghamanyan, who has triumphed on international stages since winning the Montreal International Music Competition. The evening concludes with Haydn's Symphony No. 97 in C Major.
