KJAZZO

The Kasseler Jugend Jazz Orchester (KJAZZO) makes its debut at the Theaterstübchen. Founded in 2026, this project big band brings together young musicians aged 13 to 22 under the musical direction of Detlef Landeck.

The ensemble is set up as a classic full-score big band: four trumpets, four trombones, five saxophones, and a rhythm section of keys, guitar, bass, and drums. The programme features "Kansas City Suite: The Music of Benny Carter" by Count Basie (1960) - a cornerstone of the big-band repertoire that blends swinging groove with the riff-driven Kansas City style, merging Basie's sound with Benny Carter's arrangements.
