Deutscher Buchpreis 2026 - Longlist — Literaturhaus Hamburg, Hamburg
Description was written before the event

On 11 August, the longlist for the Deutscher Buchpreis 2026 will be announced - and Literaturhaus Hamburg invites you to a major longlist evening: many of the nominated authors will read excerpts from their novels and discuss them with the moderating team.

This year, 106 publishers from Germany, Austria and Switzerland submitted a total of 180 novels. The jury - comprising Theresa Donner, Jan Ehlert, Maha El Hissy, Cornelia Geißler, Emily Grunert, Stefanie Kreuzer and Adam Soboczynski - will select the "Novel of the Year" at the opening of the Frankfurt Book Fair on 5 October. In 2024, Martina Hefter won with "Hey guten Morgen, wie geht es dir?", in 2025 Dorothee Elmiger with "Die Holländerinnen".

Questions will be posed by NDR journalist Julia Westlake, Frank Menden (bookseller at stories!), Konstantin Ulmer (State and University Library Hamburg) and Literaturhaus director Antje Flemming.
