In 1977, the name of the Somali capital became a cipher for the German Autumn. While the "Landshut" is hijacked, a mother and her young son vanish without a trace during a holiday in Italy - leaving behind the father and eleven-year-old Fritzi, who searches for an explanation for the inexplicable. Munich author Sandra Hoffmann weaves family history and contemporary history together in "Mogadischu" (Berlin Verlag), a novel about memory, loss, and what goes unspoken across generations. Hoffmann is also known for "Paula" and "Was ihm fehlen wird, wenn er tot ist".
