Games afternoon

Ahead of four Drag Royals playing Dungeons&Dragons in Questhaus Ost II, Ballhaus Ost is hosting an open games afternoon. Beginners and seasoned roleplayers, solo visitors and groups - everyone is welcome. The session kicks off with a short introduction to how Pen&Paper games work, followed by a showcase of the games people bring along and the formation of playing groups. The focus is on queer game worlds. Anyone who wants to bring a game and run it should write to info@ballhausost.de beforehand.

What is Pen&Paper?

In most tabletop roleplaying games, a game master runs the session: they describe scenes, paint locations, play all non-player characters, and steer the story - guided by the rules of the particular game. Players take on fictional characters and drive the plot forward; there is often a character sheet listing skills, abilities, or fun facts.

Many decisions with uncertain outcomes are resolved by rolling dice. The scenarios are almost limitless: a vampire in 1920s London, a thief in the future, with or without magic. How strictly a group sticks to the core rules is entirely up to them - anything goes as long as everyone is having fun.
