Bremen Town Musicians - interactive open-air theatre for the whole family

This year, the Heckmann-Höfe courtyards once again become an open-air stage with a special charm. If it rains, the show moves indoors.

An old donkey, a weary dog, a bitter cat and a stubborn rooster - none of them can serve their masters any longer, so all are driven away. They meet by chance on the road and decide to stick together. Their motto: "We'll find something better than death anywhere." Their plan is to become town musicians in Bremen. But things take a different turn: instead, they cleverly chase a band of robbers out of a forest house and move in themselves. When one robber returns to check on things, the animals give him such a memorable lesson - working brilliantly as a team - that none of the robbers ever dares come back. The animals now live in happy harmony and sing to their hearts' content.

Interactive theatre is a special form of performance in which an experienced actress tells a fairy tale while slipping into all the different characters and roles herself. Children get to witness the art of transformation up close as she switches roles right before their eyes on stage. They don't just listen - they can join in actively, calling out their ideas and thoughts to the actress, who weaves these impulses spontaneously into the story.
