Koch Marshall Trio — Kulturzentrum das Rind, Rüsselsheim

The Koch Marshall Trio moves between blues, funk, gospel, jazz-rock and what Greg Koch himself calls "Chicken-Fried Groove". At its core an organ trio with deep blues feeling, the band refuses to stay in any one lane: rock, funk, jazz and country fuse into powerful songs full of dynamic improvisation, humour and the occasional gloriously untamed wildness.

The American outfit brings together guitarist Greg Koch, his son Dylan Koch on drums and Hammond specialist Toby Lee Marshall. Greg Koch from Milwaukee is regarded as a "guitarist's guitarist" - Guitar Player legend Tom Wheeler called him "diabolically talented", Joe Bonamassa "frighteningly good". His 15 releases carry a distinctive voice across American guitar styles; a long-time Fender ambassador, he was named among Fender.com's "Top Ten Unsung Guitarists". Add to that instructional books and videos for Hal Leonard, contributions to leading guitar magazines, millions of views on Wildwood Guitars shop videos, and co-development of the Greg Koch Signature Gristletone Pickups.

Dylan Koch, shaped early by Ginger Baker, Keith Moon, Mitch Mitchell and John Bonham, studied with Tom Brechtlein among others and was already playing alongside Robben Ford, Paul Barrere, Jon Cleary and Jared James Nichols as a teenager. Toby Lee Marshall rounds out the sound with a Hammond B3 that sings, growls and burns - grooving bass lines, fluid chords and ferocious solos make him the perfect foil to Koch's guitar.
