Pale yellow sand, a ring of mountains on the horizon, a cold blue sky above. The world of THE GHOST IN THE GLITCH is sparse - it only comes alive through the bodies on stage: via live motion capture, five dancers feed a virtual landscape with precise, multiplying movements, populating it with avatars that absorb, mirror and extend those movements.

THE GHOST IN THE GLITCH completes a trilogy by Brig Huezo that interrogates the relationship between the body and digital technology. Following THE DEAD CODE MUST BE ALIVE! (2022) and THE DEATH AT THE CODE! (2024), the focus now turns to bodies in a post-digital present - their labour, resilience and persistence in a world where physical and virtual realities are inseparably intertwined.

Movements loop, shift, multiply and resurface in new form. Between synchronous formations, cyborg-like sequences and fragile breaths, a space emerges in which bodies, avatars and data bring each other into being - and in which every glitch becomes a moment of freedom: an urgent yet playful insistence on what resists full codification.

As a post-digital choreographer, Huezo combines dance, motion tracking, gaming and 3D design into distinct choreographic visual worlds. In 2024, Brig Huezo received the NRW-Förderpreis für Darstellende Künste for this work. The performance features strong lighting effects, artificial blood, and intense visual and acoustic stimuli. Running time approx. 90 min.
