The Landesjugendbigband Sachsen-Anhalt is the official jazz ensemble of the federal state, bringing together young musicians under the direction of Ralf Hesse. Founded in 1993 by the Landesmusikrat, the band performs at Kloster Michaelstein - a venue whose walls are around 900 years old.

About the venue: Kloster Michaelstein

Kloster Michaelstein is a former Cistercian monastery near Blankenburg in the Harz region, founded in the 12th century. Today it houses a music education centre and a museum of musical instruments, and regularly hosts concerts of early and classical music. The well-preserved medieval buildings and the surrounding park give the venue a distinctive character.
