Description was written before the event

Pasternack Bigband

Swing from the Baltic Coast
The Pasternack Bigband is a versatile ensemble with a distinctive lineup and a sound all its own - a treat for both eyes and ears. Their broad repertoire spans jazz standards from the 1920s through to modern big band compositions, taking in swing, Latin, rock, tango, rumba, Viennese waltz, schlager and much more. Under bandleader Andreas Pasternack, the musicians draw in their audiences with infectious enthusiasm and charm at a consistently high musical level.

Andreas Pasternack
Saxophonist, singer and host Andreas Pasternack is widely regarded as one of the best-known and best-loved performers in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. He has appeared in Poland, Belgium, Japan and the USA, and hosts his own weekly radio show on NDR 1 Radio MV. His irresistibly charming stage presence, dry wit and remarkable musical range have earned him a fanbase that stretches well beyond the borders of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

Our history
The band was founded in 1989 by saxophonist Günter Kaiser as the big band of the Rudolf Wagner-Régeny Conservatory in Rostock. Andreas Pasternack joined in 1994, took over as bandleader in 1999 and steered the ensemble in bold new musical directions. The Pasternack Bigband has since built a strong reputation not only in the music scene of the Hanseatic city of Rostock but across the wider region. Highlights have included concerts alongside prominent musicians such as Bill Ramsey, Jens Winther, Günther Fischer, Uschi Brüning & Ernst-Ludwig Petrowsky, Bridget Fogle, Rigmor Gustafsson, Malene Mortensen, Marc Secara and others.
