NN Theater Köln - Till Eulenspiegel — Kulturufer Friedrichshafen, Friedrichshafen
Description was written before the event

Seducer. Rebel. Mirror of the world.

With TILL EULENSPIEGEL, NN Theater Köln takes on one of the most iconic figures in European cultural history. A wordsmith and sharp-eyed observer. Seducer and jack-of-all-trades. Juggler, thief and jester. Reduced to a laughingstock, demoted to a clown. Myth, devil and object of longing.

Hermann Bote, a severely lame customs clerk, laid the groundwork for the character of Till Eulenspiegel in 1510 with his 96 stories. Since then, Till has held a mirror up to society - sometimes cunningly, sometimes painfully, sometimes hilariously.

Till is born into a world defined by oppression, rigid regulation and blind obedience. Add to that the all-powerful rule of the clergy and the arbitrary whims of princes and feudal lords. When his father is executed after being denounced, Till breaks free from this world and turns against its rules. Against the powerful. Against stupidity.

To take revenge? Out of defiance - or to bring the truth to light? Or simply for his own amusement?

With sharp wit and an irrepressible love of play, Till ruthlessly exposes greed, vanity and hypocrisy. And in the end, things stay as they always were: he who laughs last, laughs best!

Audiences can look forward to a dazzling theatrical spectacle - full of playful energy, rapid role changes, live music and a dizzying rollercoaster of nonsense and meaning, noise and colour.
