A girl meets a smoking philosopher: Hannah Arendt. Together they embark on a journey of ideas, joined by philosophers, companions, critics and friends who bring Arendt's experience of emigration to life. Poems, letters and quotations drift through time; questions that still resonate today are asked. A dialogue unfolds between two generations - about statelessness and the longing to belong.

A character from Arendt's little-known fairy tales also appears, revealing the thinker's rarer, more poetic side.
