A girl meets a smoking philosopher: Hannah Arendt. Together they embark on an intellectual journey, joined by philosophers, companions, critics and friends who bring Arendt's experience of emigration back to life. Poems, letters and quotations drift through time, and questions that still echo today are asked aloud.

A dialogue unfolds between two generations - about statelessness and the longing for belonging. Through an encounter with a character from Arendt's little-known fairy tales, the thinker is revealed from her lesser-known, poetic side.
