Misery. Based on the Novel by Stephen King

Writer Paul Sheldon decides to end his popular "Misery" novel series and devote himself to more ambitious literature. Shortly after completing his new book, he crashes on an icy road in the Colorado mountains and becomes trapped in his car. Nurse Annie finds him, pulls him from the wreckage, and takes him to her remote farm.

Annie is Paul's biggest fan and adores the character Misery above all else. She cannot accept that the heroine had to die in the latest novel. Using brutal force, she compels the helpless Paul to write another installment and resurrect Misery. Between them unfolds a game of mutual dependence that grows increasingly intense - until Paul realizes he must plan the most important story of his life: the story of his own escape.

The stage adaptation comes from Oscar-winning William Goldman, who also wrote the screenplay for the 1990 film adaptation starring Kathy Bates and James Caan. The theatrical version premiered on Broadway in 2015.
