A Journey in the Footsteps of Giuseppe Verdi
A Multimedia Lecture by Peter Jaeger

Northern Italy - the regions on the sunny side of the Alps - preserves artistic treasures from the Middle Ages, Renaissance, and Classicism in its well-preserved historic city centres. The Milan Cathedral is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture in white marble, Venice an expansive open-air museum. The lecture also covers Padua, Vicenza, Bologna, Parma, Mantua, and Cremona.

A special focus is placed on Giuseppe Verdi: he was born here in 1813 and began his musical education; many of his works premiered at the Milan Scala and La Fenice in Venice. Additionally, Peter Jaeger presents two festivals - one in Pesaro dedicated to Rossini and one in Bergamo honouring Donizetti. The Festa dell'Opera in Brescia transforms the old town into an opera stage every June and attracts music lovers from around the world.

The lecture provides practical information for planning your own travels and insider tips.
