The Early Music FLOW Festival Hamburg returns for its second edition - this time focusing on the music of early baroque Hamburg. The programme features works by Thomas Selle, who shaped Hamburg's church instrumental ensemble and church music in the 1640s, Hieronymus Praetorius, organist at St. Jacobi until 1629, and other representatives of the North German organ school - performed on historical instruments according to period practice.

The closing concert at St. Katharinen presents multi-choir music with the historic organ lowered from the gallery, entirely in keeping with the practice of the time. Seventeen specialized musicians sing and play viola da gamba, baroque violin, cornett, trombone, recorder, lute, regal, and the great church organ.

The full festival runs from 9 to 16 October 2026 at three venues in Hamburg. Four concerts offer insights into Hamburg's music from the late 16th to the mid-17th century - for families, yogis, and anyone interested in early music or curious to become so.
