Back to Ali - School Performance
fabrik Potsdam, Germany
Back to Ali is a documentary dance solo exploring how political decisions shape people and inscribe themselves in the body. The piece combines personal memory with historical research, telling the story of a granddaughter grappling with her grandfather's resistance to Nazism.
Jenny Beyer works with interviews, memories, historical documents, and personal experience. She asks what significance her grandfather's story holds today - for herself and for a society where right-wing movements relativize historical responsibility and Nazi ideologies regain influence. Her own body becomes the starting point for central questions: Why do I tell this grandfather's story and not my other grandfather's, who was a Nazi? What drives people to resist? What responsibility do we bear today?
