Zurück zu Ali

"Zurück zu Ali" (Back to Ali) is a documentary dance solo exploring how political decisions shape people and inscribe themselves in the body. The piece weaves personal memory together with historical research, telling the story of a granddaughter who grapples with her grandfather's resistance to National Socialism.

Jenny Beyer draws on interviews, memories, historical documents and her own experience. She asks what her grandfather's story means today - for herself and for a society in which right-wing movements downplay historical responsibility and National Socialist ideologies are regaining ground. Her own body becomes the starting point for central questions: Why do I tell the story of this grandfather - and not my other one, who was a Nazi? What drives people to resist? And what responsibility do we carry today?
