Hugendubel Frankfurt Steinweg, Germany
Mother-and-daughter authors Viveca and Camilla Sten present their latest thrillers "Mercy Killing" and "Bachelorette Party" on October 9, 2026, at Hugendubel bookstore in Frankfurt. Joining them are moderator Alexa Christ and audiobook narrator Vera Teltz.
"Mercy Killing" (Viveca Sten): In the mountain village of Åre in northern Sweden, mysterious deaths are mounting - all victims are elderly and require care, yet no body shows signs of external violence. Detective Hanna Ahlander grows suspicious, but finds herself alone: after a bitter quarrel, she can no longer rely on her colleague Daniel Lindskog. When another body is discovered and unpredictable thaw complicates the investigation, it becomes clear - Hanna and Daniel must overcome their conflict before more people die.
"Bachelorette Party" (Camilla Sten): Anneliese's bachelorette party on a remote Swedish archipelago island is meant to be a relaxing weekend. Journalist Tessa is uneasy from the start - ten years ago, four women vanished without a trace on this very island. As the boat drifts in open water and the group becomes trapped, long-buried secrets surface - and then one of the participants is found dead.
Viveca Sten ranks among Sweden's most prominent contemporary crime writers. Her books are published in over 25 countries; the film adaptation of the Åre murders reached number one on Netflix charts, and her Sandhamn detective stories form the basis of the TV series "Mord im Mittsommer". Camilla Sten lives in Barcelona and is Viveca Sten's daughter - she grew up surrounded by stories inspired by the same Stockholm archipelago that also surrounds her family's summer home.
