Organ Concert - Bruno Oberhammer (Bregenz)
Dom St. Blasien, Germany
15 €
Bruno Oberhammer from Bregenz brings the summer cycle of the International Cathedral Concerts in St. Blasien to a close on Tuesday, 1 September, with two performances at 17:15 and 20:15. Programme introductions by Prof. Dr. Oberhammer take place at 17:00 and 20:00 respectively.
The programme opens with Bach's Fantasia in G minor and a three-part Invention, followed by Franz Liszt's Variations on the basso continuo from Bach's cantata "Weinen, Klagen, Sorgen, Zagen". By way of contrast, charming chamber music by the Ottobeuren Benedictine friar Franz-Xaver Schnizer provides a lighter interlude.
The evening closes with Max Reger's Pastorale and Melodia from op. 59, and the Sonata No. 2 in A minor by Ludwig Thuille (1861-1907) - a significant, rarely performed work by the Austrian Romantic composer, ending in a triumphant finale.
