stille hunde: Farm der Tiere
22 €
Revolution on the farm: the mistreated livestock drive out their owners and seize power. At first the collective brings in the first harvest and has enough feed for winter - but the principles of grassroots democracy soon begin to crumble. The pigs, the cleverest of the bunch, first make themselves indispensable advisers and eventually get themselves elected to an all-controlling panel of experts. By the end, democracy has become a dictatorship in which a single pig decides everything and defends its power by force.
Stefan Dehler and Christoph Huber retell George Orwell's dystopian fable through the means of theatre - from the fury of self-determined liberation to corruption by a fascist elite. Their stage adaptation premieres as part of this year's Hundstage, a programme series in which the ensemble presents projects that stand out in both content and form.
