Singer, pianist and composer Yumi Ito is regarded by critics as one of the most original voices in contemporary jazz. The Basel-based artist with Polish-Japanese roots blends jazz, art-pop and neoclassical soundscapes with virtuosic vocal improvisation.

On the international stage, Yumi Ito is at home on prestigious venues: she has performed at Montreux Jazz Festival and the Blue Note Jazz Festival in New York, and has already shared the stage with Al Jarreau, Becca Stevens and Mark Turner. Her fifth album "Ysla" (enja, 2023) combines personal stories with compelling improvisations.

In Hildesheim she performs with her internationally assembled band - guitarist Alessio Cazzetta, double bassist Nadav Erlich and drummer Iago Fernández - or solo at the piano. The focus is always on improvisation, emotion and stylistic openness.
