6. Prenzlauer Schäferstündchen: Alexander G. Schäfer in Conversation with Barbara Schnitzler — Dominikanerkloster Prenzlau, Prenzlau

Author and director Alexander G. Schäfer welcomes theatre, film and television actress Barbara Schnitzler to the Kleinkunstsaal of the Dominikanerkloster Prenzlau for the 6th Prenzlauer Schäferstündchen.

Born and raised in Berlin, Schnitzler grew up in a theatre family: her parents were actress Inge Keller and journalist and TV presenter Karl-Eduard von Schnitzler. After training at the Hochschule für Schauspielkunst "Ernst Busch", she spent nearly 40 years as a permanent ensemble member of the Deutsches Theater in Berlin, working with directors including Friedo Solter, Thomas Langhoff, Robert Wilson, Michael Thalheimer, Jürgen Gosch and Andreas Kriegenburg.

Alongside her stage career, she appeared in numerous film and television productions - several times in "Polizeiruf 110", in many DEFA productions, and after reunification in further TV films and series, including the role of Margot Honecker in "Honecker und der Pastor". Since 2018, Barbara Schnitzler has worked as a freelance artist. She has since taken on major roles from world literature in Germany and Austria, appeared in the musical "Cabaret" (as Fräulein Schneider), and tours Germany with a reading repertoire ranging from Ingeborg Bachmann to Christa Wolf.
