Johann Sebastian Bach was a master of composing in the "Italian style" - not only in the famous concerto bearing that name, but in many works of the Thomaskirche cantor. Remarkably, Bach never set foot in Italy. He became acquainted with the latest musical developments primarily through the study of exemplary scores.
"Bachs Italien" traces these influences and paints a panorama of the Italian sound world from which Bach drew inspiration in many ways.
