Günther Heinz is regarded as one of the defining figures of free improvisation. His journey began in East Germany, where he shaped the East German free-jazz scene; in Dresden he founded BLAUE FABRIK, which remains a centre for musical experimentation to this day.
His connection with Thomas Maos dates back to the 1990s, when NIET (New Improvisier Ensemble Tübingen) organised several exchange projects with Club Voltaire and Günther Heinz's ensemble. Since then, both musicians have remained in continuous dialogue through freely improvised music.
In 2025, the trio toured Saxony together with Fried Dähn - including at the Free-Jazz Festival in Nordhausen.
Günther Heinz (Dresden) - trombone, transverse flute
Fried Dähn - cello, laptop
Thomas Maos - electric guitar
