The secret life of the only flying mammals

Bats and flying foxes are often underestimated - yet they comprise nearly 1500 species, more than one-fifth of all mammal species worldwide. In his book The Genius Bat (Oneworld 2025), ecologist and neuroscientist Yossi Yovel explores the hidden world of these animals: echolocation, nocturnal flight maneuvers, social intelligence, and the adventure of field research. The conversation is led by Jochen Rink (MPI for Multidisciplinary Natural Sciences).

The event takes place in English.
