Astrophysicist Günther Hasinger guides you through the history of the universe - from galaxies and black holes through nascent and dying stars to killer asteroids and interstellar visitors.

His lecture draws on his book History of the Universe (C.H. Beck 2025), which tells the story of increasingly powerful telescopes and explains why many questions remain unanswered to this day. Afterwards, Hasinger - former ESA Science Director and current founding director of the German Centre for Astrophysics - discusses these very open questions with René Heller (MPI for Solar System Research).
