VENEDIG UNTER - A Cyborg Tour - Premiere
Hamburger Sprechwerk, Germany
A multimedia performance by Elena Messner & Gabriele Schelle - world premiere
The future: Venice has sunk. A research station in the former lagoon opens its doors to visitors for the first time. Just before the opening, the artificial intelligence Cyb takes the influencer and climate activist Meg, along with journalist Bruno, on an exclusive tour into the depths.
What begins as a dive through submerged palaces becomes a confrontation with the repressed reality of climate change - and the question of what we must accept and what we must repress in order to continue living. The performance combines original footage from an underwater robot of the GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre with live performance and projections.
"Disappearance is nowhere more tangible than here."
Direction: Gabriele Schelle | Dramaturgy: Elena Messner | Soundscape: Adrián Artacho | Set design: Miriam Flick | Assistant director: Geronimo Stening | Graphics: Alisa Karabut
