In the Shadow of the Island - Turid Müller - Crime Novel Reading with Musical Cabaret

Lale imagined her life at forty would be different: after her divorce, she's back in her childhood bedroom as a caregiver for her mother, who has dementia. A trip to Amrum is meant to give her some breathing room. But soon after arriving, her mother becomes entangled in a murder case that reaches back into her own past: as a child sent away to Föhr. The traces lead even further back, into a dark chapter of German history that her mother prefers not to discuss.

Turid Müller reads from her crime novel, nominated for the GLAUSER Prize, and shares behind-the-scenes stories. Accompanied by Michael Hierer on piano, she weaves in songs from her cabaret programme that echo the book's themes. The psychologist guides the evening with warmth and wit. The conversation with the audience creates space for questions about caregiving, dementia, child displacement, and building happy relationships.

Following the reading, there will be a book sale and signing.
