Klangfarben Frankreichs

As part of the AM SIEBTEN series, Martinskirche in Kassel hosts a chamber music evening on 7 October 2026. Norwegian-Iranian saxophonist Soran Lind and Norwegian pianist Erik Haug Stømner turn their attention to the "Golden Age" of the classical saxophone - masterworks by French composers who secured the instrument's place on concert stages around the world.

The programme opens with Eugène Bozza's Aria, followed by Paule Maurice's vivid Tableaux de Provence and Florent Schmitt's mysterious Légende. After the interval: Alfred Desenclos' Prélude, Cadence et Finale, Bizet's Intermezzo from L'Arlésienne, Darius Milhaud's Scaramouche, and Rudolf Wiedoeft's Valse Vanité.

Soran Lind studied at the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" Berlin, the Norwegian Academy of Music, and the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. He has performed with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, and the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra; broadcasts have aired on NRK, BBC Radio, and Danish Radio. His career highlights include a debut at the Wiener Musikverein and tours across numerous European countries.

Erik Haug Stømner, born in Halden, Norway, completed his soloist diploma at the Norwegian Academy of Music and has received several awards, among them the Robert Levin Piano Prize. He has appeared as a soloist with various orchestras and performed at the Bergen International Festival and the Oslo Chamber Music Festival. Since 2025 he has served as a répétiteur at the Norwegian Academy of Music.
