1. Concert Borkener Konzertreihe: Viatores Streichquartett

Works by W. A. Mozart, L. v. Beethoven and others.

The Viatores Quartet won first prize at the 2024 Mendelssohn-Bartholdy Competition and two special awards at the Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition in London. The ensemble has performed at St. Luke's Music Society in London, the Robert Schumann Society in Frankfurt, and the Schwetzingen Festival. As an ensemble in residence, the musicians regularly appear at the European Chamber Music Centre in Paris; their debut album as "SWR New Talents" is released in 2026.

Founded in Berlin in 2023, the quartet takes its name from the Latin "Viatore" (traveller) - a reference to the diverse origins of its members from Great Britain, Germany, Hong Kong, and Turkey.

"The Viatores Quartet from Berlin earned particularly strong applause. … They played with enormous vitality." (ludwig van Toronto)

"The young musicians impressively demonstrate how subtly the composer developed each of the four voices. Initially lively and harmonious, later powerful, swift and pointed …" (Wiesbadener Kurier)
