Macbeth - William Shakespeare

Scotland in the 11th century. Three witches prophesy to the general Macbeth that he will become King of Scotland. Spurred on by ambition and the ruthlessness of his wife, he decides to help fate along - and murder the reigning king.

But before he can ascend the throne, further murders and slanders exact their price. When Macbeth finally achieves his goal, he is merely a shadow of himself: he lives in constant fear that his crimes will be exposed - or the ghosts of the murdered may seek revenge on him.
