The value-based and rule-based international order has collapsed - and there is little reason to believe it will be restored soon. How do we escape the current violence-ridden chaos, and what role can Europe play? The European Union currently finds itself in a sandwich position: threatened by Russia on one side, pressured by the United States on the other.

This lecture explores these questions with particular focus on how the EU must change to act as a global player.

Speaker: Prof. Dr. Herfried Münkler, political scientist specializing in political theory and the history of ideas. He taught as a professor of political theory at the Institute for Social Sciences at Humboldt University Berlin.
