34.2 €
Jurgita Česonytė, the newly elected director of the Berlin Singakademie, opens the new season with Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy's cantata "As the Hart Cries Out" op. 42 - Robert Schumann called it in 1837 the "highest level" that Mendelssohn achieved as a church composer. The programme is complemented by Mendelssohn's early work "Magnificat in D" and "Da Pacem Domine" for choir and string orchestra by Pēteris Vasks. The Latvian composer, raised in a country that regained independence through a "Singing Revolution", seeks to "nourish the soul" through his music.
The soloists are Christina Germolus (soprano), Susanne Langner (alto), Christopher Renz (tenor) and Bruno Meichsner (bass). Jurgita Česonytė conducts the Berlin Chamber Symphony.
