Reinhardt Repke - guitars, vocals
Club der Toten Dichter celebrates its 20th anniversary with a jubilee programme dedicated to Christian Morgenstern (1871-1914). Reinhardt Repke has newly composed music for the Galgenlieder, and actor Hans-Werner Meyer (Letzte Spur Berlin, Baader Meinhof Komplex) joins as a guest vocalist. Bassist Markus Runzheimer (Element of Crime) additionally plays percussion on this occasion.
Morgenstern's Galgenlieder rank among the most celebrated poems in German-language literature - from "Der Lattenzaun" and "Das Mondschaf" to the school classic "Der Werwolf". Marcel Reich-Ranicki included all the Galgenlieder in his literary canon. Morgenstern himself described them as an attempt to "spread a little spiritual lightness, cheerfulness, freedom, and awaken the imagination" - gallows humour as a philosophy of life. Tucholsky captured it perfectly: "You laugh until you cry, then admire the work, grow more serious, and discover a profound lyricism that only at the last moment turns into a joke - and finally realize you have learned something philosophical."
The album for the Club's eighth programme will be released in early 2026 on CD, vinyl, and digitally. Current tour dates at club-der-toten-dichter.de
