Trembling Heart, Panicked Desire (This Is Not a Participatory Performance) - Marie Kübler — Frankfurt LAB, Frankfurt
Description was written before the event

This work is about revealing everything and finding out if something is actually there. This room is empty. You are in my head. While I do not have a gender, my anxiety apparently has. I am terrified, and yet: You are here. You are here. I feel criminal because I feel. Surrender.

"Trembling Heart, Panicked Desire (this is not a participatory performance)" places a body on stage that can only trust fear - in a world where everything seems unstable and even the mother tongue has become too fragile. Physical excess becomes a guarantee of safety; voice and heartbeat, light and sound become mediators of the supposedly real.

Marie Kübler's autofictional solo performance moves within the tension between control, loss of control, trust, surrender, and transgression. It negotiates the social power relations between stage, audience, and social anxiety: can someone who enters the stage and loses their self in fear actually exist? And what happens when, despite the fear, you do not disappear but simply remain?
