Series: "Filmmomente fürs Leben mit Pierre Stutz"

The Swiss feature film VITUS (2006) by Fredi M. Murer is one of Pierre Stutz's favourite films. To mark its twentieth anniversary, it will be screened on the big screen. The film follows Vitus, an exceptionally gifted pianist who wants above all one thing: simply to be allowed to be a child. Fredi M. Murer describes it as a "story of becoming human" - Vitus cleverly conceals his genius in order to rediscover, from within, his own willingness to embrace his gift.

The motif of flying runs through the entire film. Murer's father used to say in bold moments: "Wirf den Hut über den Bach!" (Throw your hat over the stream!) - an old symbol of letting go in order to enter new territory. There are also echoes of Rumi, the founder of the whirling dervishes: "You were not born to crawl. Learn to use your wings and fly." The director has confirmed in interviews that the film has an autobiographical background.
