The programme places music at the centre as an art of the body, movement and imagination. "Von der Geste zum Klang" (From Gesture to Sound) traces a path of perception: from the visible impulse of the hands, through the shaping of noise and tone, to the narrative that music conjures in the listener.
The selected works approach this path from very different angles. In DiGiT #2 by Mayke Nas, the physical gesture moves radically to the fore - the piano no longer serves melody and harmony but becomes a resonating body for knocking, stroking and tapping. Borodin and Ravel draw rhythmic energy and colour from dance movement, turning the grand piano into an orchestra that conjures distant worlds. Other works in the programme take up musical traditions, distort quotations and forms and reassemble them - making audible how conventions themselves are gestures that carry meaning and can be transformed.
Noise and timbre, virtuosity and silence, irony and narrative meet in this programme as equally valid means of expression.
